Thriving Through Challenges: Finding Courage in Tough Times

Discovering the power of courage, faith and persistence when life gets hard

This year has been no doubt difficult for most people and businesses across the world. Circumstances have forced us to live through a global pandemic. We are experiencing economic downturns, racial inequalities, and injustice. There have been colossal losses of lives across continents. We are also facing devastating climate change and many uprisings we have no control over.  Life is not a simple equation. Thriving in life requires resilience. Circumstances change, and obstacles arise at almost every progressive turn. We must find a way to rise above them all. It is vital that we adapt to the times. To achieve this, we must develop a flexible mindset. We need unshaken courage to thrive against all odds.

It is tremendously difficult to be courageous when we are experiencing challenging moments in our lives or business. To find courage is to find hope and to find hope is to find progress. Many entrepreneurs have had to enter business transactions with the full understanding of all the potential risks, that is courage. To find the courage to thrive in the face of challenges requires physical, emotional and mental effort.  Without effort and the courage to move ahead, you will face stagnation. When there is no clear path ahead, you must act to avoid losing hope. You will spend the rest of your life wondering. What could have happened if you made an effort to really know what lies on the other side?

Nobody was handed any manual as to how to be or live successfully at birth. We have taken each step, and our conscious decisions have led us to either failure or success. Success is a culmination of tiny efforts made over time. The courage to make an effort determines how successful we become. To truly thrive, every aspect of your life must be holistically in sync. As human beings, we are multi-faceted creatures. Each facet of our lives must be in tune with the others. This harmony is necessary to experience complete progress and an excellent state of mind.

There are areas of the human life that are susceptible to challenges that can knock us off course. Once you get these areas of your life right, you will have mastered the ability to mitigate challenges. You will also thrive in the face of any challenges that life may throw at you.

Your spiritual life: Religion is a subject that most employers prohibit. Most workplaces around the world do not allow employees to discuss it. This is due to its diverse and complex nature. The truth is, there is a higher power that governs every human life, and man is nothing without God. This area of our life is so vital to every other area. When you have a spiritual and personal relationship with God, you’ll have a sense of direction in life. This direction acts as a compass to navigate life’s difficulties as they arise. Finding the courage to love and be loved: We all are emotional beings. This is true no matter the external strength we may project. Everybody needs somebody to love and be loved. The soothing words from someone you love to make the biggest of challenges seem little. The kind words of a loving partner make you forget how bad your day was.  We all have an abundance of love to give. You just have to find the right person who will reciprocate your love.

Your Finances: What this essentially means is money, money and more money. Money is the bedrock of every success achieved. Money is very powerful. The need to have it to live comfortably cannot be overstated. Personally, I have always hated the term “Money is not everything.” In real life, you’ll need money to move from point A to point B. Money cuts across race, gender or social background. No ideas become a reality without finances. Having money is very important to our mental health and overall wellbeing. Since money is important, we must secure our finances. They will serve as a hedge against challenges before they arrive.

To do anything meaningful in life, you’ll have to find the courage to take the first step. To find the courage to thrive in challenging times is the greatest test of all. Life is progressive in nature and to keep up, you must develop a progressive mindset to accomplish your goals.
