It has been said that change is the only constant thing in life. Change is basically a variation in the common way of doing things. Whenever people perform a task in a certain way, they get accustomed to it. They develop methods that works for them to implement the task. Conversely, when we get too conditioned to a routine, progress is stumped 

It is extremely easy to get conditioned to the status quo because it is super convenient. However, nothing tangible grows in the comfort zone. Growth is also hindered by routines. We stifle growth when we carry out tasks or live our lives doing the same thing every year. Doing the same thing repeatedly hinders sustainable growth. It also limits our capacity to unleash our creative geniuses and value. Change is necessary for rebuilding what negligence caused. 

There are so many reasons why we do not wish or are afraid to pursue change. One of which we fear of what’s on the other side of the spectrum. Changing is a tedious and rigorous journey. It requires our full mental, emotional, and physical capabilities. In most cases, it also demands financial resources. This is because change comes with a snowballing effect.

Transitioning from where we are to where we ought to be requires a deep thought process. We must fully understand and identify our priorities. The change process doesn’t happen instantaneously; we just don’t wake up and decide to change our way of life. We must have endured a series of unfavorable events. These events accumulated over time. We became fed up and decided it was time to make a change.

The advantages of changing far outweighs the benefits of not trying. The moment we realize time’s up for change, limitless possibilities and opportunities present themselves. They appear in ways we do not envisage. We instantly gravitate towards solutions that’ll aid the process. When we step out of our comfort zone, we activate our flexibility. This allows us to adapt to a new environment, face new challenges, and embrace a new narrative. 

Our core values are evaluated. Our personal growth becomes more prominent. Our strength of character becomes the compass that’ll lead to progress. All these are character building attributes. When we follow through, we come out from the other side as the best version of ourselves. In addition to all the benefits associated with change, advancement and fulfillment becomes our new narrative. 

The approach to welcoming change that changes the narrative has to be holistically thought through. To truly embrace change, we must welcome the following 3 Cs.

Communication: Imagine a world, society, or organization without communication. Confusion will thrive. There will be no definitive sense of purpose. For change to truly happen towards a goal individually or collectively, everyone involved must be on the same page. Communication is very vital to progress and it must be open and sincere. 

Commitment: This is probably the most important because it drives the courage to move on regardless of the challenges ahead. When you are committed to a purpose, your sense you fulfillment becomes paramount until a desired result is achieved. 

Consistency: Consistency is repeating the same actions consistently. Do not change course when facing overwhelming turbulence. This is necessary to achieve whatever you set out to accomplish. Setbacks and challenges are meant to derail you. They keep you tied to the status quo. We must recognize this and rise above them to truly change the narrative. 

If you have followed all the happenings in recent time in Nigeria, you’ll realize we’ve endured a lot. We got fed up with the system. The youth collectively decided it’s time for a change. I’m particularly proud of my generation. I’m even prouder to be a Nigerian at this particular time in history. We will be remembered as the generation who resisted oppression and suppression. We became the best version of ourselves, not just for ourselves alone but for the generations behind
